Second Highest Achieving Comprehensive in Essex

We are very pleased to see that, for the second year running, we have been recognised as the second highest achieving comprehensive in Essex in the school GCSE performance tables that were published on 26th January.

Folk Hero
Newport’s very own up-and-coming folk musician Danny Pedler showed off his unique talent by winning the prestigious ‘New Roots’ competition at the St. Albans Folk Festival this past April.


Magistrates Mock Trial Competition Winners
NFGS pupils have been getting a taste of the legal system. 14 Y9 pupils took on the role of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates, court staff and a defendant to take part in the annual mock trail competition.

Judo Success
NFGS student Victoria Kerr won a Silver medal in the British Schools Judo Championships on 10th March. Victoria has been doing judo for the last 4 years and she trains 3 times a week.

Newport Free Grammar School win Leys Tournament
Newport Free Grammar School’s U12 Girls hockey team rounded off an amazing first season when they won the Leys Invitation tournament last week.



Nepal 2012 Expedition Project Announced

Expeditioners so far have raised over £300 with cake stalls and a used toy stall towards the £1000 needed for the project.
This year's Expedition will be working in a remote location in Nepal at The Shree Pragatisheel Higher Secondary School. The school is located about an hour and half drive from the road head at Kande and additional hour and half walk to the village.  The students will be working alongside students from the school to complete a compound wall.
