Activities
At Newport Free Grammar School we believe that the education of the whole person is very important. Our academic record is excellent but coupled with that we have an unrivalled number of extra-curricular activities that we can offer to our students. The two areas, which, by their very nature, attract most numbers of students, are music and sport. Many students are talented in both subjects and are very committed to practising each week as well as playing in teams and in musical events in the evenings and at weekends.

A long established activity is The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. This attracts a certain kind of person who enjoys a challenge and team-work.
Many students are environmentally aware and join in clubs that specialise in looking after our surroundings.
There are many more activities for which you will find details on other pages. Our main aim is to help people develop into good citizens and we believe that by joining the activities we offer students gain that extra dimension to their education.
