School Uniform
All pupils in Years 7-11 must wear school uniform. This shall be defined as follows:
Boys and Girls
School Blazer (navy) with full school crest on breast pocket
School charcoal trousers (not jeans, cords or cottons)
Navy V-necked pullover of plain design with school logo
Plain buttoned up white shirt
House tie
Black shoes of normal pattern (i.e. not training shoes or plimsolls: shoes with high or narrow heels are not acceptable)
Plain dark jacket or coat
A plain dark scarf may be worn during cold weather but must be removed on entering the school buildings.
Girls
School Kilt or Black Trousers
White ankle socks or plain black tights
Sportswear
Boys
Navy rugby shorts with school logo
Reversible rugby shirt
Blue and yellow school polo shirt
White PE socks
House colour games socks
Trainers and football boots
Girls
Navy games skirt with school logo
Blue and yellow school polo shirt
White PE socks

Navy sweat shirt with school logo

School team socks (for team players) yellow with school initials

NB
- trousers bought from outside of school must be in the same style as those available from Gray Palmer.
- trainers and football/hockey boots and leotards are not available through the school.
- jewellery of any sort other than a watch and a single plain gold or silver stud earring in each ear lobe is unacceptable.
- in the interests of safety, heels of shoes should not exceed 4cm.
- shirts are to be tucked into trousers or kilt and top button to remain done up.
- ties are to be pulled up to cover top button and be at a reasonable length.
- no facial piercing is to be worn at school.
Sixth Form Dress Code
There is a clear expectation that students dress appropriately for school following the Sixth Form Dress Code. Students are expected to adopt a professional approach to their sixth form studies and the dress code reflects this:
Sixth Form Boys:
Smart, tailored, formal trousers
Formal shirt and tie
Plain V-neck pullover (optional); tie must be visible
Suit/tailored Jacket (recommended but not compulsory)
Smart, formal shoes (no canvas shoes or trainers)
Sixth Form Girls:
Smart, tailored trousers, skirt or knee length shorts (no leggings)
Smart top or blouse
Plain cardigan or pullover (optional)
Jacket (recommended but not compulsory)
Smart, formal shoes (no canvas shoes, Uggs or trainers)
General:
Jeans-cut trousers (whatever colour they are) or denim type material should not be worn.
Hoodies and other sports leisure wear should not be worn.
Outdoor wear (coats, hats, gloves etc) of any colour may be worn.
Hoodies only to be worn in place of a coat; not as a pullover.
Jewellery
Jewellery should not be excessive or a risk to the student’s health and safety within the school environment. No facial piercing is permitted.
Hair
Hair styles should reflect the overall ethos of the dress code, without any extremes of colour or style. Any questions should be directed to the Director of Sixth Form for a binding decision.
To provide parents with a better service in terms of offering a wider range of school uniform availability and more flexible payment methods from 1st June 2009 the purchase of your daughter/son’s school uniform will be through Gray Palmer, 47 High Street, Saffron Walden.
Gray Palmer have produced a school website which enables you to purchase school uniform over the internet, all uniform is listed and it is quick and easy to use. Parents have the option of having the uniform sent direct to them or reserved for collection from Gray Palmer, website address is as follows:

The school will continue to hold a small stock of ties for emergency purposes.
As all uniform must conform to school regulations purchase from Gray Palmer will ensure that these requirements are met. In addition, sponsorship for our school fund will also be given on each order placed.
There is a scheme to assist parents/guardians who are in receipt of income support or family credit to purchase school uniform. Further details are available from the school.
Health and Safety:
Jewellery should not be excessive or a risk to the student’s health and safety within the school environment. Specifically any piercing of the face is not permissible. Stiletto heels are inappropriate for the school site.
