Best Secondary School in Uttlesford

Newport Free Grammar School has been recognised as the second highest performing comprehensive school in Essex in the performance tables that were published on 12th January. While nationally only 15% of students achieved the government’s newly introduced measure of the ‘English Baccalaureate’ (which includes Maths, English, Science, a Language and History or Geography), at Newport 37% of students achieved this measure. This is also the highest for secondary schools in Uttlesford.

Headteacher Sean O’Hagan reacted to the publication of the tables by saying

‘Newport Free Grammar School has always believed in providing a broad and balanced curriculum which will give our students a solid foundation to build on in their future lives and careers. Our strong performance in the English Baccalaureate underlines that commitment.’
