Magistrates Mock Trial Competition Winners
NFGS pupils have been getting a taste of the legal system. 14 Y9 pupils took on the role of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates, court staff and a defendant to take part in the annual mock trail competition. They were given a criminal case involving a scenario in which teenagers are accused of handling stolen goods following an attack on a local newsagent. A strong performance from the whole team ensured that proceedings ran smoothly at Cambridge Magistrates Court, beating King Edward VI School and Swavesey Village College in the process. The NFGS legal team will now take part in the next round of regional finals, in Northampton this May. Good Luck! By Anna Flight, 9M
